Show #6, Ottawa: My review

So after the disappointment of not making the cut for the pit, we settled in to our location stage right up against the barrier for the show and what a show! Only 24 songs (compared with the 25 from the last night in NJ) but, hell, everyone was EXHAUSTED when they walked off the stage.

You can see the set list here.

Radio Nowhere was solid and a good opener as was The Rising on his last tour.

The Ties that Bind...WHAT can you say about that? A surprise as it had been missing since show #1.

Reason to believe was unbelievable -- all that has been said about it, his harmonica with the bullet mic, the band, all true and all great.

He really started rolling after Reason with a string of songs that whipped the entire arena into a frenzy only Springsteen can do: Adam Raised a Cain (wow) into She's the one into Living in the future (of which his political pulpit seemed far too short -- he must have realized he was in Canada at that moment) into Promised Land, the tour premier of Tougher than the Rest and then BACKSTREETS -- another tour premier and absolutely remarkable.

Darlington County has always been a favorite and it did not disappoint tonight - had the entire crowd dancing and singing.

Badlands is Badlands...Stadium at a frenzy at this point and he pushes all of us over the edge with this song. They walked off the stage to give us a breather for 2 minutes and came on to finish the set. State Trouper with Arcade Fire was an audible and a good one. BTR, Dancing and American Land had the crowd hugging, dancing and screaming. What a way to end the show.

While this is only show number 6 they were on. Springsteen seemed to be playing the crowd and it worked well. Not a lot of interaction among E-Streeters nor was there a lot of conversation to the crowd (usual PSA's and band intros at the end of American Land) but that did not detract from the pure Rock and Roll being played in front of us.

Wow. I forgot just how good that band is.

We'll get to see how Ottawa stacks up against Chicago next week. Can't wait.

Great Review! I was at the show and thought it was awesome...Just wanted to mention that he did play 24 songs as Arcade Fire and Bruce played Keep the Car Running (by arcade fire) right after they did State Trooper.

Sleep well...and see you down the road
