I threw up a poll on Backstreets a while ago to see what the best Springsteen backup vocal performance was and the results were as follows:
Endless Night: Graham Parker (2 votes)
Valentine: Nils (3 votes)
Jole Blon: Gary US Bonds (6 votes)
Dirty Life and Times: Warren Zevon
Thousand Miles: Joe Ely
All Just to Get to You: Joe Ely (2 votes)
Tragedy: Emmylou Harris (3 votes)
Misery Loves Company: Mike Ness
Roy Orbison from Black White Nights (4 votes)
Street Hassle: Lou Reed (2 votes)
Float Away: Marah
Disorder in the House: Warren Zevon
Love's on the Line: Gary US Bonds
Brown Eyed Girl: Joe G
Dark and Bloody Ground, Homestead,Chain Smoking off of Joe G's Babylon
St. Genevieve: Soozies White Lines
Obviously Jole Blon is up there but the Orbison songs were pretty close. This just shows a slice of what he's done and who he's sung with over the years. Pretty impressive.
