Ok, I am NO designer (notice the lame template I am currently using on this blog) but COME ON! Has anyone taken a look at Springsteen's MySpace page lately?
Now I'm not a big fan of MySpace to begin with -- what a mess -- but you'd think that a guy like Springsteen who manages his career with finite detail would insist that his label or management company would manage his brand a little better than this.
MySpace, when done right, might actually increase awareness of an artist's music but in order to do that they have to have a space that doesn't make you want to puke as you scroll down the screen. Information architecture is obviously lost on whoever manages this site as content is strewn throughout the site without ANY thought -- hey! Here's a picture and a link and then a video, and click here to download a song (btw, the song is a studio version of 41 Shots that I had never heard before. It can be downloaded here - just saved you from visiting this site), a setlist and a little news thrown in for good measure.
When it comes to readability -- who the hell uses green text? Even worse is the brown text on the brown background (which looks like excrement that has been thrown against a wall).
I'm sure whoever's 6 year old web prodigy of a son did this is proud -- maybe even made their parents proud* -- but for an artist that has the pull, the fans and rakes in the cash like Springsteen, you'd think he would be treated and branded with a little respect.
* no offense if your son is the one who did this

So this is the best Springsteen's handlers can do?
